Western blot analysis of anti-TXNRD1 antibody (BM5241). The sample well of each lane was loaded with 30 ug of sample under reducing conditions.
Lane 1: human Jurkat whole cell lysates,
Lane 2: human PC-3 whole cell lysates,
Lane 3: human A549 whole cell lysates,
Lane 4: human HepG2 whole cell lysates,
Lane 5: rat brain tissue lysates,
Lane 6: rat PC-12 whole cell lysates,
Lane 7: mouse brain tissue lysates,
Lane 8: mouse NIH/3T3 whole cell lysates.
After electrophoresis, proteins were transferred to a membrane. Then the membrane was incubated with rabbit anti-TXNRD1 antigen affinity purified monoclonal antibody (BM5241) at a dilution of 1:1000 and probed with a goat anti-rabbit IgG-HRP secondary antibody (Catalog # BA1054). The signal is developed using ECL Plus Western Blotting Substrate (Catalog # AR1197). A specific band was detected for TXNRD1 at approximately 55 kDa. The expected band size for TXNRD1 is at 71 kDa.

A synthesized peptide derived from human TXNRD1 Isoform 1 may possess glutaredoxin activity as well as thioredoxin reductase activity and induces actin and tubulin polymerization, leading to formation of cell membrane protrusions. Isoform 4 enhances the transcriptional activity of estrogen receptors alpha and beta while isoform 5 enhances the transcriptional activity of the beta receptor only. Isoform 5 also mediates cell death induced by a combination of interferon-beta and retinoic acid.
