Figure 1. Western blot analysis of THBS2 using anti-THBS2 antibody (A03253-1). The sample well of each lane was loaded with 30 ug of sample under reducing conditions.
Lane 1: rat brain tissue lysates,
Lane 2: mouse brain tissue lysates.
After electrophoresis, proteins were transferred to a membrane. Then the membrane was incubated with rabbit anti-THBS2 antigen affinity purified polyclonal antibody (A03253-1) at a dilution of 1:1000 and probed with a goat anti-rabbit IgG-HRP secondary antibody (Catalog # BA1054). The signal is developed using ECL Plus Western Blotting Substrate (Catalog # AR1197). A specific band was detected for THBS2 at approximately 160 kDa. The expected band size for THBS2 is at 130 kDa.

Thrombospondin-2 (THBS2) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the THBS2 gene. The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the thrombospondin family. The THBS2 is mapped to 6q27 and it is located on chromosome 17. The gene was transcribed in fibroblasts, smooth muscle cells, and an osteosarcoma cell line. It functions as a protein inhibitor of tumor growth and angiogenesis and modulates the cell surface properties of mesenchymal cells and be involved in cell adhesion and migration.
